How to play Septle?

Type a seven-letter word

Enter any real seven-letter word and press Enter. You have eight tries to find the Septle word of the day.

Read the colours

Red means the letter is in the right spot. Yellow means it is in the word but in a different spot. Grey means it isn’t in the word at all.

Solve it in eight

Use the clues from each guess to narrow it down. Then try the six-letter bonus, which gives you seven tries.

What is the Septle game?

Septle is a word game like Wordle, but with seven letters instead of five. The name comes from “sept”, the Latin root for seven, as in September. Longer words mean more letters to place, so the Septle word game rewards patience and a good start.

This page is a free Septle-style game you can play online in any browser. The Septle daily word game changes at midnight Toronto time, so everyone plays the same word today. The six-letter bonus adds a second daily puzzle, and Practice mode gives you unlimited words.

Answers are everyday words you would see in a book or newspaper, not plurals or words ending in a suffix like -ING or -ED. Your streak, win rate and guess distribution are saved in your browser.

Septle hints and answers today

Look for word endings

Many seven-letter words end in -ION, -ENT or -ATE. Test those letters early.

Mind double letters

Words like BALLOON and ACCOUNT repeat letters. A yellow can appear twice.

Don’t reuse grey letters

The keyboard turns letters grey once they’re out. Skip them on later guesses.

Think in chunks

Pairs like CH, TH, ST and QU often sit together, so try them as a block.

Answer after the game

When you finish or run out of guesses, the Septle answer today is shown right away.

No solver needed

Practice mode is the best Septle solver: the more words you play, the faster you spot patterns.

Septle bonus and practice mode

Finished today’s Septle? Tap 6-Letter Bonus for a second daily puzzle with a six-letter word and seven guesses. It is a little easier, so it’s a nice warm-down after the main game. Want more? Practice mode is unlimited Septle online: pick seven or six letters and press New word as often as you like. Practice and bonus games don’t touch your daily streak, so you can play freely without risking it.

Septle vs Wordle and other word games

Wordle uses five letters and six guesses. Septle uses seven letters and eight guesses, and its bonus uses six letters and seven guesses. If you like longer words, Septle is a great daily challenge, because seven letters leave far more room for clever guesses and surprising answers than five ever could.
