What is Canoku?
Canoku is a daily Canadian sudoku game. It follows classic sudoku rules, but instead of numbers you place Canadian symbols such as a maple leaf, a canoe, a hockey stick and a beaver.
Play the Canoku game online free on your phone or computer. A new daily puzzle arrives at midnight Toronto time, and Practice mode gives you a fresh grid whenever you want.
The full set has nine symbols: maple leaf, canoe, hockey stick, beaver, pancakes, ice skate, pine tree, snowflake and duck. Smaller grids use the first four or six, so you can learn the rules before you take on the 9×9.

Which Canoku grid should you play?
Every size follows the same rule. Bigger grids simply need more steps of logic.
4×4 · Beginner
Four symbols and four boxes. Perfect for kids and first-time players, and solved in a minute or two.
6×6 · Everyday
Six symbols in boxes of two rows by three columns. A quick daily brain break for most players.
9×9 · Classic
The full sudoku with all nine Canadian symbols. Try Hard when you want a real challenge.
Tips for solving Canoku
Look for the missing one
If a row has every symbol but one, the empty square must be that symbol.
Scan one symbol at a time
Pick a symbol and check where it can still go in each box.
Use Notes
Turn on Notes to pencil in small symbols, then remove them as the grid fills.
Start with the busiest box
The row, column or box with the most symbols already placed usually has the easiest move.
Check every box
Players often scan rows and columns but forget the boxes. Each box needs every symbol too.
Use the number keys
On a keyboard, press 1 to 9 to place symbols and N to switch Notes on or off.
