What is Don’t Wordle?
Don’t Wordle is an anti-Wordle. Wordle rewards you for narrowing down the answer; Don’t Wordle punishes you for it. Each colour clue squeezes the list of possible words, and because your guesses must follow the clues, you’re slowly pushed toward the very word you’re trying to avoid.
This page is a free Don’t Wordle-style game you can play online in any browser. The daily puzzle changes at midnight Toronto time, so everyone dodges the same word today. Don’t Wordle unlimited mode gives you a new hidden word whenever you want.
You get five undos per game. If you guess the hidden word, you can take that guess back and try a safer one instead.

Don’t Wordle tips and strategy
Avoid common letters early
E, A, R, S and T light up lots of tiles and narrow the list fast. Hold them back.
Repeat letters
Words with doubles test fewer new letters, so fewer words are ruled out.
Watch the counter
The words-left number shows how much room you have. Big drops mean danger.
Save your undos
Use them only when you actually hit the word, not to fish for a better score.
Mind the gold letters
Once a letter is gold, every future guess must contain it, and that adds up quickly.
Plan the last guesses
By guess five, think about which word is least likely to be the answer.
Don’t Wordle vs Wordle
In Wordle, a row of grey tiles is bad news. In Don’t Wordle, it’s the best thing that can happen, because it rules out very few words. Lots of red and gold tiles feel great in Wordle but are dangerous here, since they force your next guesses closer to the answer.
